Duties

• Perform work related to the maintenance, repair, fabrication, and/or installation of wooden ship components such as hull planking, structural members, ceiling and deck planks, masts, booms, spars, and yardarms.
• Use knowledge of woods and characteristics, join timber and/or wood, and use fasteners for woods.
• Operate handheld power tools and hand tools related to woodworking.
• Measure and determine dimensions for cutting and fitting wood using measuring instruments.

Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen and suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
• Pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
• Meet physical requirements, including working at heights above 150 feet, working in confined spaces, and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Obtain and maintain a valid US drivers license and necessary permits.

Qualifications

Demonstrate through experience and training the ability to perform duties related to woodworking, including using tools, measuring, and working under supervision. Meets the criteria outlined in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualification Handbook for Trades and Labor Occupations.

Additional Information

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled. Employment is contingent upon meeting pre-employment requirements and reporting for scheduled appointments.
