Minimum 1+ years intrepreter experience required.
We are seeking a qualified Remote American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter to support K12 students across school districts in Colorado. This fully remote position ensures equal access to classroom instruction and school communication for students who are Deaf or hard of hearing. The interpreter will facilitate real-time communication between students, teachers, and staff using virtual platforms.
Key Responsibilities:Provide real-time remote interpretation between ASL and spoken English during live classroom instruction, school meetings, and related activities.
Support students in both academic and non-academic settings (e.g., assemblies, one-on-one sessions) via video conferencing tools.
Collaborate with educators and school staff to prepare for lessons, understand content, and ensure accurate interpretation.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional interpreting standards (RID Code of Ethics).
Use appropriate online platforms and technologies to deliver high-quality interpretation services.
Contribute to a positive and inclusive virtual learning environment for Deaf and hard of hearing students.
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelors degree in interpreting or related field preferred.
Valid ASL Interpreter Certification:
National RID Certification (NIC, CI/CT, or equivalent) required.
Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Educational Interpreter Authorization preferred.
Demonstrated fluency in ASL and spoken English.
Previous experience interpreting in educational settings, especially remotely.
Strong understanding of Deaf culture, accessibility, and student support needs.
Proficiency with remote communication platforms (Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, etc.).
Reliable high-speed internet connection.
