Job Description

Sony Pictures Television is looking for a Director of Operations for the Insights, Strategy & Analytics organization.

The world’s largest independent studio, Sony Pictures Television, produces original content for linear networks and digital platforms. Our series include dramas like THE NIGHT AGENT, THE LAST OF US, THE BOYS , comedies like TWISTED METAL, COBRA KAI , and unscripted series like JEOPARDY!, WHEEL OF FORTUNE, AMERICAN IDOL , beloved worldwide.

Reporting to the EVP & head of the division, this leader will drive high-impact decision-making by establishing operational processes related to project management, team organization, budgets, vendor management, team building, and senior leadership updates. The ideal candidate combines strong business acumen, organizational tools expertise, budget management skills, and a collaborative style. Passion for storytelling and team performance is essential. Knowledge of insights, content strategy, and analytics is preferred for strategic projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Overall Team Operations & Project Tracking
  • Manage operations for SPT's ISA organization, including project tracking, budgets, team updates, and senior leadership reporting.
  • Develop tools to track and organize projects, deadlines, milestones, using systems like Airtable.
  • Prepare project reports and ensure transparency in sharing with leadership.
  • Manage workflow, priorities, and capacity issues proactively.
  • Suggest solutions to operational bottlenecks.
  1. Budget & Spend Management
  • Create and manage team budgets, invoicing, PO systems.
  • Conduct monthly budget reconciliations with finance teams.
  • Track contributions and ROI of research and data investments.
  1. Vendor Organization
  • Implement systems to track vendor relationships, contracts, renewal dates, ROI, and optimization.
  • Manage vendor discovery and relationships with key partners.
  • Lead contract renewal processes with legal, procurement, and IT.
  1. Upskilling
  • Define and activate upskilling curricula for insights & analytics teams.
  • Coordinate training and classes on data and analytics innovations.
  1. Collaboration, Team Building & Communication
  • Facilitate best-practice sharing through forums, events, or tools.
  • Organize team-building activities and offsites.
  • Prepare for team summits and cross-team sharing meetings.
  1. Leadership & Development of Key Tools
  • Manage the Sharpr Repository and insights reports for broader SPE use.
  • Support VIP Voices consumer panel projects.
  • Develop additional tools for team efficiency and insights sharing.
  1. Strategic Projects & External Relationships
  • Partner with leadership on strategic analysis projects.
  • Lead collection of show & team achievements for sharing.
  • Prepare presentations for external speaking opportunities.
  • Manage relationships with academic partners and other external entities.
  • Participate in ad hoc strategic initiatives as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Marketing, or related field.
  • 8+ years in project management, analysis, insights, strategy, or related fields.
  • Leadership experience in organizational tools and cross-functional influence.
  • Expertise in budget management and tracking.
  • Understanding of analytics, insights, and strategy preferred.
  • Exceptional communication, storytelling, and executive presence.
  • Passion for operational excellence.

  • Experience in media and entertainment industry.
  • Passion for film and television.
  • Strong strategic mindset, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborative, transparent team-building experience in matrixed, multicultural organizations.
  • Excellent presentation skills and experience presenting at an executive level.
  • Continuous learner with focus on innovation and improvement.
