Fort Lauderdale Law Firm focusing on Immigration Law and Criminal Defense is seeking an associate to join our team. This position includes legal research, brief and motion drafting, court appearances/trials, client interaction, and the preparation of immigration applications. The ideal candidate will possess strong legal writing skills. Prior court experience is strongly preferred. Prior immigration or criminal law experience is preferred. Candidates with exposure to both practice areas are strongly preferred. Florida bar strongly preferred.

 

Spanish fluency strongly preferred.

 

The ideal candidate will be a critical and creative thinker, quick on their feet, detail oriented, and someone who looks at clients as a person and not a case file. We are dealing with people's lives.

 

Associates with up to three years of experience will be offered the position at $100,000. Associates with more than three years of relevant experience will be offered the position at a range of $140,000-$150,000. Generous fee sharing opportunities. Exceptional candidates awaiting bar results may be considered as law clerks pending results.

 

Responsibilities:

- Litigate cases in court on behalf of clients

- Conduct legal research and analysis

- Draft legal documents, including briefs, pleadings, and motions

- Advise clients on legal matters and provide guidance on potential outcomes

- Attend hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedings

- Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to ensure effective case management

 

Requirements:

- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

- Admission to a state bar (Florida)

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

-Experience working with people from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds

- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills

- Prior courtroom experience is strongly preferred but not required
